Eucharistic Adoration

"In a world where there is so much noise, so much bewilderment, there is a need for silent adoration of Jesus concealed in the Host. Be assiduous in the prayer of adoration and teach it to the faithful. It is a source of comfort and light, particularly to those who are suffering.”

Pope Benedict XVI, February 22, 2007, Sacramentum Caritatis, Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation.

Eucharistic Adoration at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish

Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish offers Eucharistic Adoration on the First Friday of each month from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 pm.  Adults commit to spending a ½ hour to an hour in the presence of Our Lord using the sign up sheets placed at both entrances of the church the weekend preceding the First Friday of the month or by calling the parish office. All are welcome anytime during the adoration period.  Guests who come to adore are asked to sign in when they arrive so to help us know how many people participate in this devotion.

Our Prayer Line Ministry leads the rosary at 12:00 p.m. All are welcome to join.

What is Eucharistic Adoration?

In its fullest essence ... Eucharistic Adoration is "God and Man reaching out for each other, at the same time!" It is the act of simply being in the midst of the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist – the real body, blood, soul and divinity of Christ.

 What are the benefits?

Each person that spends time in the presence of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament grows in holiness.  Communally, increased mass attendance, conversions, return of fallen away Catholics, vocations to the priesthood, deaconate and religious life, better confessions are just some of the many fruits of Eucharistic Adoration.

What do you actually do during adoration?

Our time spent in Adoration can become the most profound, meaningful, joyful, peaceful and healing experience we could ever encounter! During Adoration you have the opportunity to relax, pray, listen, reflect, read, to just breath – and find calm, peace and tranquility.  Some people take this time to reflect and pray about challenging situations or to simply thank God for their many blessings.

Respect for Jesus’ presence in the Holy Eucharist at adoration time is displayed in the following ways:

1. Keep in mind that you have entered into the Real Presence, the presence of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the fullness of His divine and human natures.
2. Genuflect upon entering and leaving the presence of the Lord.
3. Be mindful of proper, respectful attire.
4. No talking, rather, maintain an austere, silent reverence.
5. Adoration is a peaceful, private time for each adorer.
6. You may choose to kneel or to sit during your visit.
7. Make sure to turn off any electronic devices before entering the church.

"The Eucharist is connected with the Passion.… To make sure that we do not forget, Jesus gave us the Eucharist as a memorial of his love …

When you look at the Crucifix, you understand how much Jesus loved you then, when you look at the Sacred Host you understand how much Jesus loves you now."

– St. Teresa of Calcutta.
